According to a Texas House committee chairman...at least that's what the San Antonio Express-News says.

I hope that's true.   And I hope that Bob Romano wins the District 105 , Irving seat.  Wow a split Texas House.

But Craddick plays mean and hard, esp. when his Speakers position is on question.  But I'm sure he's already sold his soul...

Thanks to Gary Scharrer of the Express-News, BurkaBlog at Texas Monthly, and Phillip Marin at Burnt Orange Report.

There is a good chance that the base of the GOP will decide that it's main problem in the 2008 election was that the party wasn't ideologically pure enough; that a return to pure slash and burn, government is our enemy, except when it's at war with a foreign enemy, welfare queens want all our money, GOPism will bring the party back to it's hegemonic glory days of the Reagan White House.  It's not an accurate barometer, but that's what Limbaugh and his Dittoheads are spouting.

I think it would be great to have Palin as leader of a shrinking Republican that won't appeal to anyone other than fundamentalist Christianists and rabid racists.

We knew that sooner or later in this American presidential campaign, somebody was going to do something really stupid.

We might have guessed where:

College Station.

First, a 20-year-old College Station woman was convicted in Pittsburgh of faking a story about volunteering for John McCain and getting attacked by a tall African-American Obama supporter.

She won’t be coming home to the heart of Aggieland anytime soon. A court ordered Ashley Todd into mental treatment.

Now, a Texas A&M student group known as the class clowns of conservatism has staged a stunt that even their own faculty adviser calls "really dumb."

Best commentary I've seen so far on the Palin choice.

"Had the 44-year-old Sarah Palin, whose greatest political accomplishment before being elected Alaska’s governor in 2006 was serving as mayor of Wasilla (population 9,780), been named Stanley, she would have had exactly zero chance of ending up in the Oval Office in the next four years."
