It's no secret that Tom Leppert is the Park Cities choice for Dallas mayor. (Like they should have any say in the matter.)

But basically, Leppert admits to as much on his campaign web site. Here's the piece:The End of Apathy

  Blue Texan  2007-04-12 20:26

Candidate for Dallas mayor, says on his website:

As mayor, Tom will take a hands-on approach to education, and will reach out to the civic and business communities to get involved and help improve all Dallas schools.

If he wants to improve education in Dallas, RUN FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD. The Dallas mayor has minimal effect on Dallas schools. I guess Tom Leppert think most voters don't know that. As far as I'm concerned this is simply pandering.

BTW, Leppert's first mailer, to north Dallas, includes a photo of LaNeil Wright Spivy, a longtime leader of the Texas and Dallas wings of the Eagle Forum. No way am I voting for a mayoral candidate who's tied to those wing-nuts.

And, to make things even better, Leppert can't tell the difference between the Dallas City Charter and a city (non-binding, to boot) ordinance. Take a look here.

And thanks Back Talk .

His comments in the Congressional Record

And the nice thing is it only stayed open for unmoderated comments for 75 minutes. You can find the first 75 minutes here. My favorate quote:

"Didn't we already stick a fork in your ass and decide you're done?"

If you want to see a sleezball at work take a look here.

Thanks, In The Pink.

Oh, and like in his former endever, be prepared to fork up money before you get to share your comments with DeLay. It costs money to post.

Sidney Blumenthal gives a hopefull (if you're a Democrat) analysis of the 2006 midterms in How America Dumped Bush Part 1 He says Repubs have driven away Mainline Protestant and young voters. They've squandered inroads with Hispanic and Catholic voters. And the Repubs have stopped being a national party and become a southern regional party.

Nixon's (and Rove's) 'Southern Strategy' now becomes a liability. Only three moderate Republican Senators remain in office, and there is only one Republican House member from New England.

My favorite quote:

The strongest race run by any Republican did more than prove the rule of 2006. Arnold Schwarzenegger won reelection as governor of California by 17 percentage points by openly attacking President Bush, firing his Republican chief of staff and hiring a lesbian activist who had worked for his Democratic predecessor as a replacement, and adopting liberal positions across the board. As major figures from California often demonstrate, Schwarzenegger may represent the future of American politics but not the future of the Republican Party. Any Republican attempting this trick in another state would almost certainly be destroyed by the party's right wing.

Part II of How America dumped Bush is here .

Headline says it all.

Basically:

1) Barring scandal or gaffes, the election is Obama's to loose.

2) Iowa Govonor Vilsack will win Iowa caucuses. The real winner will be whoever is number two. Hillary may skip Iowa.

3) Al Gore, if he runs, might beat Obama.

4) Obama has very good chance against anyone the GOP throws up; McCain included.

I don't know. I still think Obama's got some dues to pay before he runs for President. I'd like to see him in the Senate for another term or two first.

Thanks to Andrew Sullivan.

From the Washington Post

Evan Bayh has $10.6m in his senate campaign fund that he can transfer to a presidential campaign fund. But Bayh has minimal name recognition compared to Hillary Clintion, Barack Obama, or John Edwards.

The woman who won the race to fill the rest of Tom DeLay's term, but lost to vote to replace him for the next congressional term, hacks off DeLay's office staff.

As rumors fly over why Shelley Sekula-Gibbs' staff left, experts say she's hurt her chances for '08

Looks like she had a grandiose idea in what she could accomplish in a few weeks.

Dallas Morning News wants them gone.

When I moved to Texas, I couldn't believe Texas elected judges. Still can't.

Thanks StandDown Texas
