Candidate for Dallas mayor, says on his website:

As mayor, Tom will take a hands-on approach to education, and will reach out to the civic and business communities to get involved and help improve all Dallas schools.

If he wants to improve education in Dallas, RUN FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD. The Dallas mayor has minimal effect on Dallas schools. I guess Tom Leppert think most voters don't know that. As far as I'm concerned this is simply pandering.

BTW, Leppert's first mailer, to north Dallas, includes a photo of LaNeil Wright Spivy, a longtime leader of the Texas and Dallas wings of the Eagle Forum. No way am I voting for a mayoral candidate who's tied to those wing-nuts.

And, to make things even better, Leppert can't tell the difference between the Dallas City Charter and a city (non-binding, to boot) ordinance. Take a look here.
