Maybe the GOP will thin that its problem was that it wasn't ideologically pure enough.

There is a good chance that the base of the GOP will decide that it's main problem in the 2008 election was that the party wasn't ideologically pure enough; that a return to pure slash and burn, government is our enemy, except when it's at war with a foreign enemy, welfare queens want all our money, GOPism will bring the party back to it's hegemonic glory days of the Reagan White House. It's not an accurate barometer, but that's what Limbaugh and his Dittoheads are spouting. I think it would be great to have Palin as leader of a shrinking Republican that won't appeal to anyone other than fundamentalist Christianists and rabid racists.
